Matrices

Current experiments use engraved and printed matrices whose combinations can produce forms that were not fully anticipated. Painted additions then respond to what has appeared, without necessarily closing the image. This research is still in progress. It asks what happens when the starting image is generated through a process of combination rather than taken from a pre-existing photographic source, and whether the matrix remains necessary once painting begins to develop its own direction.
